Reverend Nyana K. Irby, was born in Newark, NJ and has been a member of Saint James AME Church in Newark, NJ for over twenty-two years. Reverend Nyana Kim Irby was ordained as Reverend of the African Methodist Episcopal Denomination in 2015. She serves as part of the Ministerial Staff and is the President of Saint James Singles’ Ministry under the Senior Pastor Reverend Dr. Ronald L. Slaughter.

Reverend Irby earned her Master of Divinity Degree from New Brunswick Theology Seminary in New Brunswick, NJ in 2011. She has her Bachelor of Science in Management from Jersey City University and Associates Degree in Accounting from Essex County College and worked in the field of Finance and Grants.

Reverend Irby has served over twenty-two years at Saint James in different compacities of ministries. For example: Prayer Line, Nursing Unit, Christian Learning Center, Class Leader, Inspirational Choir, New Life Ministry Teacher, Bible Study, and is currently employed as a Database Specialist for Saint James.

God continues to bless and grow Reverend Irby. In 2015, Reverend Irby became the President of the Saint James Christian Singles’ Ministry: “YOU ARE NOT ALONE” BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING, MAKING DISCIPLES, BUILDING FAMILIES AND MEETING NEEDS. We as Christian Singles know that the Lord is with us because of the Holy Spirit lives inside of us and we are blessed to be a blessing. The Singles Ministry are Christian Singles that operates in Unity and in Jesus Christ Love to Be A Blessing to others. Christian Singles’ Ministry strives to live a full balance Christian life as God requires. Constructive meetings are held frequently to plan new outreach projects that better serve our community.

Reverend Irby through prayer and the leading of the Holy Spirit gives advice, and encourages people. She believes that real ministry is outside the four walls of the church. According to Matthew 25:37, 40: ‘37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

The Singles Ministry outreach is Bowling, Movie and a Dinner, Sunday Breakfast after Sunday Service and distribution of Hats, Gloves, Scarves and Socks to the Homeless, Children Day Care, Nursing Homes, Singles’ Parent Living and etc.

God has blessed Reverend Irby greatly with her biological family, spiritual family and friends. Spending time with them and building relationships is a pleasure through the painful and joyous times that comes along with life. Reverend Irby believes according to Philippians 1:6, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
