Linda O’Brien started her career in journalism in 1981 when she interned as an editorial assistant on the business page at The Star-Ledger.

Thirty-eight years later, she’s still at it.

Currently a supervising reporter at NJ Advance Media, O’Brien writes and edits community news which is printed in The Sunday Star-Ledger, the Ledger Local, the Suburban News, the Hunterdon County Democrat, the Somerset/Hunterdon Observer and posted on nj.com.

A graduate of Guilford College in Greensboro, N.C., she is past-president of the Wardlaw+Hartridge School Alumni Association in Edison, where she also has been a regular contributor to the school’s alumni magazine, Oak and Ivy.

O’Brien serves as a board member at Teamwork Unlimited, an Edison-based autism awareness nonprofit. She also has been a volunteer at Sammy’s Hope Animal Rescue in Sayreville and is an active congregant at Christ Church in South Amboy, where she is a former vestry member and current member of Women with Purpose.

She is the exceedingly proud mother of Cliff, 23, a recent graduate of Dickinson College and second lieutenant in the Army; and Brendan, 21, a senior at Dickinson College, where he is an ROTC cadet.
